Meet Braden
Better late than never...
Yes, it has been nearly two YEARS since this darling baby boy joined our family.
And Yes, I am just now updating my blog after more than three years...
But this is very representative of my reality. I am so busy LIVING my life, I rarely find time to WRITE about my life. However, I am going to try to catch up a little.
Today, at least, I have a few quiet moments.
For starters, I should mention that I am now the mother of 5 children. Braden Robert joined us in September 2010 after a long pregnancy and a brief stint in the NICU. He was perfectly healthy until he inhaled fluid before he could take his first breath. I cannot forget the panic I felt when the doctors pulled him out of my belly (yes, C-section) and only silence greeted us. Time froze while we waited to hear that precious first cry. When the seconds ticked by and it didn't come, I was growing desperate. "Why isn't he crying?!" I asked all the medical people crowding around. Finally he let out a cry but it was not the loud, mad, cry my other 4 had given. It was weak. But it was a cry and hearing it lifted the brick off my chest. Still, they rushed him off to the NICU where he stayed for 3 days. Fortunately, he rapidly improved, going from oxygen and IV tubes to no tubes, a bottle and eventually was able to nurse just fine. It was a difficult beginning, but he hasn't let it bother him. He is the world's easiest baby. Really. I know I said this with Dallin and it was true, then. But Braden has been even more easy-going than Dallin. Since I had three children before these two were born, I know that not all babies are so willing to just go with the flow. But these two boys are just plain happy. Content. Satisfied. Calm. Mellow. Relaxed. You get the picture. They cry sometimes when their needs aren't met, but not for long and they get over it quickly. Best of all has been that both are self-entertaining. Truly I count my blessings daily!
