Hard to see but in the far corner is our sump pump. Why the builder put it next to our only window can only be explained by stupidity. Regardless, we had to come up with a way to hide the sump pump without blocking any precious daylight. The solution ended up being so perfect, I'm almost glad we had the challenge. We put a cabinet door on the bottom for access to the pump and on the top made a false back wall with built-in shelving for all our entertainment equipment. This worked great since we mounted a flat screen over the fireplace. No armoir necessary!
